We’re thrilled to share more exciting news as we celebrate one of our Founder Directors, Dr Andrew Waddell, who was the Scottish Football Association’s Guest of Honour at the World Cup Qualifying match between Scotland and Belarus.

Andrew was presented with a silver Quaich in recognition of his outstanding contribution to Scottish football over the past sixty years. His journey in the game began in 1965, when he passed his referees’ examination. From there, he rose steadily through the ranks, becoming a top-class domestic referee in 1978 – a position he held for two decades. The pinnacle of his refereeing career came in the 1990s, when he was selected for FIFA’s elite group of referees, the top category in world football.

Following his retirement from refereeing in 1999, he became secretary of a regional semi-professional club in the east of Scotland and was later elected to the Council of the Scottish FA. Over the next twenty years, he held many roles, including serving on the Professional Game Board and acting as Head of Delegation for the Scottish Women’s International team.

What an incredible milestone – congratulations, Andrew!
