Meet the Team – Q&A with Associate Stacey Harding
After earning a first-class honours degree in Neuroscience from the University of Nottingham, Stacey began her research career as a Clinical Trial Assistant in a Phase 1 Unit. She later transitioned into quality assurance, gaining experience auditing for a global CRO with its own investigator sites before joining Tower Mains as Associate.
Here, she discusses her journey into QA, her career highlights, and her interests outside of work, including staying active and exploring new places.
What attracted you to your role?
In all honesty, I didn’t fully understand what QA did when I first applied for a role as a QA Auditor. After completing a module on clinical research at university, I knew I wanted to work in clinical trials and was fortunate to get a job as a Clinical Trials Assistant soon after graduating. Although I enjoyed my work, I wanted exposure to the clinical research process as a whole and knew I was ready for a change. Being in QA is having the opportunity to learn something new every day and that’s what attracts me the most; there is so much variety in the work that we do. I also get to be nosey for a living!
What has been your biggest career highlight so far?
It might be a cop-out answer, but probably landing a job at Tower Mains! My manager at my previous job had travelled the world auditing and I knew that’s what I wanted to do at some point in my career.
You’re new to the team at Tower Mains, what are you enjoying the most?
Being part of such an experienced and welcoming team. I think working from home can be tough at times so it’s reassuring to know that I can reach out to anyone for a catch-up – whether it’s work-related or not. There is such extensive experience within the team, and I feel lucky to be able to learn from everyone while adapting my auditing style. I’ve been at the company for just two months and already feel I have broadened my knowledge of the GxPs.
What makes you tick outside of work?
I really enjoy being active and my current obsessions are running, spin classes, and going for hikes. I also usually have a book on the go, although I admit I’m not always the best at finding the time to read. Exploring new places is something I love, and I look forward to being able to do this both outside of work and within work.
For Tower Mains, Stacey conducts routine audits in GCP for investigator sites and CROs and supports clients in quality activities.
